“You are not alone. Welcome to the edge.” - Jodi O'Malley, MSN RN

Welcome,

Welcome to The Ethics Edge, the official blog of RighteousRN—where we go beyond the surface to talk about what really matters in nursing today: ethics, advocacy, and moral courage.

Here, you’ll find real stories from the frontlines, insights on navigating institutional pressure, and unapologetic discussions on standing for truth in a profession that’s lost its way.

Whether you're a nurse who’s been silenced, a student questioning what you’re being taught, or a veteran RN searching for purpose again—this space is for you.

It’s time for nurses to reclaim their voice, renew their calling, and remember why we answered it in the first place.

You are not alone. Welcome to the edge.

Jodi O’Malley, MSN, RN is a critical care nurse, federal whistleblower, podcast host, and author of Rare Courage: Standing for Right When You're Surrounded by Wrong. She is the founder of RighteousRN and creator of the nationally streamed Nurses Out Loud radio and podcast show.

With 14 years of diverse experience spanning emergency nursing, critical care, detox & recovery, hospital supervisor, pain management, chemotherapy, med-surg, and perioperative care. Jodi brings both bedside wisdom and bold leadership to the frontlines of healthcare.

In 2021, she gained national attention after exposing unethical COVID-era protocols at a federal hospital under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Today, as a practicing ER nurse and national voice for ethical reform, Jodi equips nurses with the tools, courage, and conviction to advocate for truth, patient rights, and moral integrity in healthcare. She teaches on ethics, informed consent, whistleblower protection, and moral courage in modern nursing.
